Draconem: A Crash Course

A VERY unfinished TL;DR

Dracōnem consists of 7 continents, 3 independent island states, 2 pantheons and a partridge in a pear tree.

There are two dominant races in number: Humans and leviathans. Leviathans are bipedal dragon people with tails but no wings. Instead of goblins and bugbears, there are Vemenar and Quagoron, who are bat people. Monsters consist of demi-draconics (HTTYD-type dragons) and daemons (fae).

The two pantheons are the Gods, who are widely worshipped, and the Dragons (Draconae), who are shrouded in mystery and their worshippers will probably be killed by God-worshippers. Warlocks, clerics and paladins are 'Anointed.'

For more on the races, check out the Species Index. Also worth noting, all magic comes from The Arcane Anthem, the harmony of the cosmos - the vibration upon which all things in existence sing. Draconem also has a ringed moon, called Aether.

Where to go from here? Read up on the Gods and the geography of Draconem, maybe peruse the species, and take a gander at the minor gods.

Phrases:

Sometimes you'll hear or read a phrase that may be unfamiliar, don't be afraid to ask questions. Some phrases you might hear:

"Oh for Coven's sake." - The 'Coven' refers to the Draconae, The Coven of Dragons, a secret pantheon of dragon gods. Anyone using this word in this context is a dragon-worshipper, which is no small thing.

"By Court and claim..." - The 'Court' refers to the Gods, The Court of Gods. This is a very common phrase, it basically means 'I swear to God,' but also puts your own honour on the line. 'I swear on the Gods, and I swear on my own word' would be a far more roundabout way of saying the same thing.

"Water-weary." - Scared of water or sea travel.

"Bleak One's breath!" - This is basically 'holy hell!' The 'Bleak One' refers to Dal'rouk.

"Cotton-bones." - Coward.
