Dal'rouk

Dal’rouk (Dahl-rook), the End, is often considered by some to be the god of death - in reality, he is specifically the god of Elsewhere, the Prime Afterlife, eternally receiving verdicts and assigning souls to their afterlives. If a soul is deemed pure, he will ask of it its preferred afterlife and send it there. If it is deemed impure, or worse, corrupt, it will be forever trapped within the wide expanse of Elsewhere. In the case of downright corruption, the soul is condensed and trapped into an urn, set amongst the millions that line the catacombs below Elsewhere, trapped, conscious of it all, hearing new souls be called to be assigned for eternity.

His brother, Demi’kes, makes judgments on souls with another of their brothers, Tida’el, as his advisor. While Demi’kes technically makes the final judgement, there is nothing stopping Dal’rouk from vetoing their decision, as Demi’kes has no way of knowing short of sieging his realm and checking his ledgers himself.

Once, some five hundred years before the common era, Dal’rouk’s champions rivalled Demi’kes’, an army of champions, designated to deal death to the enemies of the Court. They sieged North shortly before its vanishing, before slowly fading out over time. The last significant standing force were sent one by one to their deaths in an arrogant display of poor strategy on the part of Dal’rouk.

Dal’rouk is slain in 1 BCE, by Atta Boi and Nimue Seba Pelleas during the Rising of Atlas. His domain remains unmanned.

Depiction

Dal’rouk is the fourth tallest of the gods’ fixed forms (meaning to not include Styx and Tida’el, whose forms are inconsistent), behind the Mother, Demi’kes and Saldr, standing at 11’2”. His mask was a gift from the World-Walker, living wood carved for him out of a species of tree so ancient as to no longer exist.
