Atlas is a country that disappeared a while into its existence. It used to be a pinnacle of freedom from the, at the time, conquesting Holy Empire, with the capital North being established and ruled by the Goddess Triton. She eventually passed down her special god-killing trident, Rhongomyniad, to a human who ascended to Godhood in the process, who then became king themself. All the kings are selected by the previous and then given the weapon so they too ascend to Godhood, rendering the previous user a mortal once more. This lineage is called 'The Legacy.' 

For reasons unknown, all the people of Atlas immigrated away and the country vanished into thin air, said to have sunk to the bottom of the ocean. 

It has since returned with absolutely zero explanation, but the king is a member of the Legacy just as any of the previous ones. It is now a newly established state developing new relationships with the surrounding lands, as it is directly at the centre of Dracōnem and acts as a hub for trade, commerce and culture.
